Spelling Bee Registration Deadline
Please FAX (372-6065) or mail the Intent to Participate Form to the Lyceum

Distribute Preliminary Competition list to all 4th and 5th grade
students.

Preliminary Competition
All 4th and 5th grade students compete by written test. From these, school selects a total of twenty students from each grade to move on to the Semi-Final Competition. Distribute Semi-Final Competition list to these forty students.

Semi-Final School Competition
The forty students from the Preliminary Competition take another written test. From these, schools select twenty students total to move on to the Final School Competition. Distribute School Final Competition list to these twenty students.

Final School Competition
The twenty students from the Semi-Final Competition take an oral test. From these, schools select TWO winners and TWO alternates to move on to the County Final Spelling Bee.

School Statistics Form due to the Lyceum by 4:00p.m. (see manual for form). Lyceum will issue a media press release using information from these forms. Please make sure that information is accurate and complete.

Distribute County Final Spelling Bee list to winners and alternates. This list includes each word and a sample of its use in a complete sentence.

Schools should also turn-in the following items during this week to the Lyceum:
Coach and Principal Spelling Bee manuals
School Banner, if you would like it displayed at the County Finals
(note: schools should take their banner home with them on February 9)

County Final Spelling Bee (San Benancio Middle School)
Student Registration   9:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
Spelling Competition   9:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon
